Traffic alert ahead of Maui wildfire survivor housing caravan

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Temporary homes to house Maui wildfire survivors are set to the hit the road Nov. 22 and 23.
Hawaii’s Department of Transportation (HDOT) is warning drivers of potential delays as shipping trucks will travel from Kahului Harbor to Lahaina from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
The final stop for the homes is ‘Kilohana’, FEMA’s temporary housing site.
HDOT says the caravan will travel along the following route:
FEMA confirms there are 108 units already placed at Kilohana with 71 that still need to be shipped to Maui.
31 units are slated to arrive Nov. 29, and 40 are scheduled to arrive Dec. 8.
All the units will be transported to Kilohana several days after their arrival according to FEMA.
No further shipments are scheduled after Dec. 8.
